Abstract: Since the PTI Specification for Unbonded Single Strand Tendons was first published in 1985, there has been significant improvement in the performance of unbonded post-tensioned concrete structures in aggressive environments. The subject of this presentation is the repair of a post-tensioned concrete structure in the Florida Keys, built prior to the adoption of the PTI Specification. This presentation serves to document the performance of this structure in an aggressive corrosion environment, the evaluation of the existing post-tensioning system and the methodology used to repair this system. Recommendations regarding the application of new construction standards to existing construction are also provided.
